Biography:

Peter has an extensive background in assisting people to recover from chronic pain and disability. He cofounded the Paragon pain program 1999 with 2 psychologists. In 2007, he completed the requirements of a Specialist Musculoskeletal physiotherapist (as awarded by the Australian College of Physiotherapists). He is a titled APA Pain physiotherapist.

Peter has been a visiting lecturer and educator at the University of South Australia throughout his career and currently conducts master classes in chronic pain management for physiotherapists attending the Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Advocacy and giving back to the physiotherapy profession are key ongoing commitments. Peter is annually conducting courses for The Australian Physiotherapy association (APA) including Motivational Interviewing, Complex Case Studies and the advanced clinical pain course and articles for education magazines of the APA

He is a volunteer and a member of the Pain Revolution (see website) initiative founded by Lorimer Moseley. He has been an educator and volunteer in this annual week of community education initiative in rural Australia (Sydney to Albury 2018 and Tasmania, Devonport to Hobart 2019, Townsville to Cairns 2023). Peter is a mentor of a Local pain educator (LPE) in assisting them to develop their knowledge and their development of pain education projects in their local communities.

Peter is a facilitator of Physiotherapists seeking to gain Pain and Musculoskeletal specialist qualifications and is an examiner for the College of Physiotherapists.

A passionate meticulous approach aiming to understand the individual’s pain experience and developing pathways to recovery, has resulted in Peter being highly sought after by people in pain and by physiotherapists specialists, and medical practitioners seeking opinion and management guidance.

Research:

He has recently completed a Case series research project funded by RTWsa and The University of South Australia and assisted in the development of the IASPIRE tool and clinical guidelines to assist physiotherapists in the management of people with problems that have not recovered.
