Biography:

Director of Perth Shoulder Rehabilitation, Alison has over 30 years extensive experience in assessing and managing all shoulder problems. She is skilled at assisting patients develop a comprehensive management plan to self-manage their shoulder problem.
Alison provides second opinion shoulder reviews for orthopaedic surgeons, sport and exercise physicians, general practitioners, physiotherapists and insurers. She has worked with a variety of elite, national and Olympic athletes, attending national and international competitions as a member of a multidisciplinary sports medicine team.
Alison lectures in the Master of Clinical Physiotherapy program at Curtin University and was responsible for developing the current curriculum for the Sports Physiotherapy Course at Curtin University. She regularly conducts shoulder management workshops, seminars and continuing education sessions for other physiotherapy and medical clinics.

Research:

Alison is a clinician researcher with current research aiming to improve care pathways for people with shoulder pain. She completed her PhD thesis in 2018 investigating trends for shoulder surgery in Western Australia, exploring the evidence for shoulder surgery decision-making, and the association of psychological factors with shoulder pain and outcome after shoulder surgery. A number of papers from her thesis have been published in peer review journals.
